  • Our Dance Star of the Week is Tabitha

    Tabitha has worked really hard in her BTEC Dance lessons, responding well to feedback and making a determined effort to improve her dance technique. 

    Tabitha has impressed all of us at the Academy with her positive attitude in lessons and we look forward to seeing her achieve her best in her coursework. Well done!

  • Strictly Dance Fever 2026

    Mark your calendars for an unforgettable evening of talent and creativity as the Academy proudly presents Strictly Dance Fever – a dynamic dance competition showcasing the incredible talents of our students from Years 7 to 13.

    The event takes place on Thursday 2nd July in our Academy Hall, starting at 7pm and giving you two and a half hours of incredible dance. Tickets are on sale now at £8 each!

    This spectacular event will feature three exciting categories – groups, solos, and duets, each bringing a unique blend of dance styles to the stage. The variety promises something for everyone to enjoy.

    Students will compete for the prestigious Strictly Dance Fever Trophy, while two special awards, Best Performer and Future Star, will be decided by our panel of judges.

    All proceeds from the evening will go towards enhancing the Academy’s Dance Live! budget, supporting future dance initiatives and performances.

    Join us for a vibrant evening filled with energy, passion and unforgettable performances. We look forward to seeing you there!

  • Academy Sports Rundown: 5th June 2026

    We kicked off Term 6 with Cricket, Rounders and Basketball, read how we got on below:

    South West Regional Basketball Championships
    Our Year 8 Basketball team competed in the South West Regional Basketball Championships hosted by UWE this week.  Students competed with schools from across the South West, making it an exciting afternoon. 

    Our team put forward an incredible effort, securing a Bronze medal in the event, with Noah winning the Regional Individual Shooting Competition. Well done!

    Year 9 & 10 Rounders vs Kings Academy 
    Our Year 9 & 10 Rounders teams visited Kings Academy for a double match in the last week of Term 5.   Whilst they didn’t secure the win, it was clear to see the massive improvements our students have made as a team and we cannot wait to see how they perform in the next game.

    Our Year 9 Player of the Match was Immy, and Olive brought home Player of the Match for Year 10. Well done!

    Year 7, 8 & 10 Rounders vs Clevedon
    Our Year 10 Rounders team had their moment to show off their improved skills against Clevedon School this week, bringing home an impressive 13-8 victory. Our Year 7 team also smashed it with another win, showing off their skills and bringing it home with a final score of 15-4. 

    Year 8 put up a strong performance, keeping Clevedon on their toes throughout; however, Clevedon displayed some strong fielding and batting performances to just edge ahead in the second innings. 

    Our Players of the Match were awarded to Lexi, Skye and Lilly. Well done! 

    Our U15 Cricket Team has been busier than ever!
    Our U15 Cricket team started the week with a last minute fixture against Millfield on Monday. It was a strong match with Churchill 113/2 off 20 overs and Luca & James anchoring the innings. However, Millfield took the win with 114/0 over 8 overs. 

    Wednesday saw our team face St Katherine’s, where James was an all out star with the ball, getting five wickets in one run. The game came to a close with a victory for Churchill, bringing us one step closer to Lords. 

    Our final Cricket game of the week was on Thursday, as we faced Ashton Park.  It was another impressive game, despite the tricky weather, with Dylan leading the team for 6 wickets over 6 runs.  It was another victory for Churchill with a final score of 91/3 against Ashton Park's 19/0, bringing us yet another game closer to Lords. 

    We want to say a massive thank you to all the local cricket clubs, especially Churchill, as the Academy’s home ground.  We can’t wait to see how they get on next week!

  • Churchill Alumni Brings Home Second Place on Britain's Got Talent

    Ex-student Herbie has enjoyed incredible success after joining drone events company Celestial, based in Frome.

    The team recently appeared in the semi-finals of Britain’s Got Talent, where they received the judges’ collective Golden Buzzer, sending them straight through to the final. After an unforgettable performance in the final, Celestial finished in an impressive second place.

    We could not be prouder of Herbie and the Celestial team for their amazing achievement. Congratulations and well done!

  • Ben & Joe’s Three Marathon Challenge

    Ben and Joe are taking on an incredible challenge during June by running a combined total of 157.2 miles, the equivalent of three marathons each, to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

    Originally hoping to raise £250, they have already surpassed expectations, raising more than £2,000 for the charity. Their dedication and determination have been outstanding, and the money raised will support a truly worthy cause.

  • Bronze DofE Have a Wet and Windy Expedition

    Our Year 9 students recently completed their first expedition as part of their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s Award practice expedition. Spending two wet and windy days in the Quantocks, students developed their navigation skills, set up camps and trekked across challenging terrain.

    Despite the conditions, the expeditions were a great success and provided valuable experience ahead of their assessed expeditions scheduled for July. The students showed resilience, teamwork and determination throughout the challenge, leaving them well prepared for the next stage of their Bronze DofE journey.

  • Year 8 Students Volunteer for Group B Strep Support

    On the 23rd May, Year 8 students Keeley, Flo and Ava volunteered at a charity event supporting Group B Strep Support and the Wallace & Gromit Grand Appeal, held in memory of Keeley’s little sister, Cora.

    The girls helped to run a stall during the event and were praised for being incredibly helpful throughout the day. Their kindness, teamwork and willingness to support such an important cause made a real difference and reflected great credit on themselves. Well done.

  • Rising Tap Star: Leah

    Leah brought home the gold last week as she delivered an outstanding performance at the West All England Regional Finals. Her success means she has qualified for the National Finals, which will take place in Eastbourne this July.

    It was an especially successful event for Leah, as two of the group dances she performed in also qualified for the National Finals. A fantastic achievement and a well-deserved reward for all the hard work and dedication shown this year. Well done!

  • Rising Cycle Star: Rosie

    Rosie recently competed in the final round of the Southern Region Cycling Series at Castle Combe, bringing an impressive season to a close. The series consisted of five rounds held across the South region, testing riders’ consistency and determination throughout the year.

    Competing in her first season as an Under-14 rider, Rosie delivered strong performances across the series and finished an outstanding 3rd overall in the South Region standings. Her achievement marks a fantastic start in the U14 category and highlights her hard work and commitment throughout.

  • Year 11 Class of 2026

    We bid farewell today to our Year 11 Class of 2026, it has been a pleasure to watch these students grow into the fine young people they have become today. 

    Celebrations were shared throughout the day, with t-shirts signed, tears shed, and many speeches made, demonstrating the impact our Year 11s have had on the Academy over the years. 

    Whilst some students will be returning in September for Sixth Form, it is a bittersweet goodbye to others as they head off in other directions. We wish every single student the best of luck with their remaining exams, and we can't wait to see what else you achieve!

  • Sponsored Walk & Trek 2026: All You Need to Know

    On Friday 12th June, our students and staff will set off on an adventure as we embark on our annual Sponsored Walk and Trek across the Mendips.

    To ensure students are fully prepared for the day, we’ve outlined all the vital information, including the timings, what students need to wear, and what they should bring, below!

    Essentials for Everyone

    The weather is looking very promising for the walk, so please make sure you have the following essentials: 

    • Sun cream

    • Hat

    • Plenty of water, there are no refill stations along the way

    • Packed lunch and plenty of snacks

    There will also be a chance to buy an ice lolly at the end of the sponsored walk, so please bring cash if you wish to buy one! 

    And remember - this is not a race, so students should take their time, and they can opt out of some sections if they find them difficult.

    Returning home

    Students will return to the Academy at the end of the school day; coaches will operate as normal. 

    Donations 

    This is a really fun and adventurous day for students, but it can present challenges for our students to overcome. Please help spur them on and support the Academy and our chosen charities by donating.

  • Book Fair Raises Over £200 for the Academy

    We would like to say a massive thank you to all the families and students who supported this year’s Scholastic Book Fair. 

    Students’ enthusiasm for the event was fantastic to see, and they walked away with exciting new reads, including the latest Lottie Brooks adventure, the ever-popular Hunger Games series, and many other favourite teen titles.

    Thanks to your support, we raised an amazing £253.80, which will be spent on new books for the Academy library. Keep an eye out for next year’s Book Fair — we can’t wait to do it all again!
