  • Wednesday 5 April 2023 Alumni judge shining M Stars Musical Theatre performance Churchill Academy & Sixth Form Performing Arts department were thrilled to welcome back four previous students to judge the brand spanking new 'M Stars Musical Theatre Competition'.
  • Thursday 16 March 2023 Double Somerset Cup Rugby Champions A huge congratulations to the Year 9 rugby team who played Backwell School in the Somerset Cup Final. The match was drawn at full time and neither side deserved to lose, so both walked away worthy joint winners. The Year 11 rugby team have had an excellent run up to their final game, defeating Brymore Academy, Wellsway School, and Castle School Taunton to earn a place in the Somerset Cup Final against Holyrood Academy. One of the most rewarding parts of being part of the Churchill community has been in working with these individuals over the past five years. At every opportunity, they have been the epitome of our core values and have an exceptional level of camaraderie. A 36-0 victory was a fantastic way to finish their rugby journey with Churchill! A great team effort, strong tries, try saving tackles, determined as always. Congratulations to all!Thank you also to all the parents that made the trip to Bridgwater & Albion RFC.   • Friday 3 March 2023 Dance Regional Winners Dance students from Year 9 to Year 13 performed their stunning piece, inspired by Shakespeare's words, with beauty, grace, power and professionalism. Supported brilliantly by a technical team that showed the breadth of talent on show and the real value of camaraderie and team work. Not only did we win the heat but came away with the prize for best live film as it played in the background on a giant LED screen.The journey was long, we are not talking about the trip all the way down to Poole, but the journey where every second of choreography , every second of editing, every second of light designing, every second of rehearsal was 100% worth it!Every single student deserves the praise they will no doubt receive. They have been an absolute privilege to work with and they will forever keep this amazing achievement in their memory.As we travel home, and I write this, the chorus of 'We are the Champions' fills the bus and even at this late hour, the smiles fill their faces knowing they have
  • Tuesday 31 January 2023 Young Musician 2023 Young musician of the year award
  • Friday 20 January 2023 Future Chef Regional Heats Congratulations to Annabelle Isgrove and Evie Goodbrand for all their preparation and effort in the Springboard Future Chef Local Heat. The students were very professional and showed great determination to produce their dishes in an industrial kitchen set up. The standard was very high and the students executed and presented them to restaurant level. The three judging chefs commented that it was one of the hardest competitions they have had to judge. Each student got individual feedback. The students were excellent ambassadors for the Academy. Only one student went forward to the next heat and unfortunately it was not us this year. Thank you to all the students who entered the school heat and parents for your support.

  • Friday 25 November 2022 The Great Debate This term, two students in Year 11 have taken part in ‘The Great Debate’, a national public speakingcompetition run by the Historical Association. The question this year was ‘Why does history matterto me’, with participants being required to speak for five minutes in response to the topic, beforeanswering questions from a panel of judges.

  • Thursday 30 June 2022 Year 11 Ball 2022 The weather held for the arrival of our Year 11 students to their ball held at Cadbury House on Friday.
  • Thursday 23 June 2022 Year 13 Ball 2022 It was anabsolutely delight to celebrate with our Year 13 students on Saturday night at their ‘Year 13 Ball’ at the Bristol Hotel. Having been unable to host this event since 2019 it was a very fitting send off for a fantastic year group – particularly as they missed out on their Year 11 Ball due to Lockdownonetwo years ago. The evening was full of enjoyment, good food, great company and the dance floor was packed until the doors closed at midnight! Thank you to Phoebe Pothecary, Katie Godfrey and Mrs Thompson for all their work organising a wonderful evening.

  • Friday 4 March 2022 Sophia Wins National Writing Competition with A Twist on a Tale This year, Churchill Academy & Sixth Form took part in Pearson’s My Twist on a Tale: Our Tomorrow writing competition. The students worked really hard on their entries and produced some fantastic stories about what they believe the future will hold.
