A Magnificent evening of music from Churchill Academy and Bristol Cathedral Choir School

Friday night saw the first of two concerts performed by Churchill Academy, Bristol Cathedral Choir School, Trinity Singers and Bristol Cathedral Choir School Choral Society in a collaboration featuring Bach and Bernstein.

Bernstein and Bach - A Choral Collaboration was first performed on Friday evening  at All Saints Church in Weston-super-Mare to an audience of over 250. It involved over 150 singers and 50 musicians in the orchestra. The first half featured Churchill Academy’s Gospel Choir and Chamber Choir. The second half featured Bernstein and Back and included regular partners Trinity Singers and BCCS Choral Society , demonstrating the commitment to musical excellence that both schools have and the community support from local partners.

“This evening shows that if you challenge young people with difficult tasks, they not only rise to that challenge, but exceed it.” said Headteacher Chris Hildrew.

Paul Harrison, Second in Faculty for Performing Arts at Churchill Academy and who led much of the choral work added “Providing opportunities like this for our students is something we strive for and I’m confident that all involved in these concerts will have benefited and grown from the experience. We are privileged to be in a position to attract such wonderful partners for events such as these and we thank everyone that was involved.”

Tickets to the second performance at Bristol Cathedral on Wednesday 8th March are available from Positickets.
