Economic & Business Society Begins

Today witnessed the inaugural meeting of Churchill's Economic and Business Society. Our very first meeting was highly successful as around 50 students (comprising both Economics and Business students from years 11-13) crammed into Tu4 to learn from our visiting speaker, William Hynes (of the Bank of England) about the workings of the Bank of England, including a brief history; an explanation of both conventional monetary policy and quantitative easing; and the latest news regarding the Bank's regulatory framework. Unfortunately there was only a little time for questions but pertinent issues were raised and answered. Future speakers include personnel from Thatchers; local politicians; the CEO of Spire Healthcare; staff and students.
We are very keen to hear from any parents or members of our community who may be willing to give up an hour to pass on their expertise, experience and insights into the world of Economics and/or Business (whether large or small). Please contact Jackie Davey, Director of Faculty of Business, Computing and Social Sciences if you think you can help.
