Churchill Academy

Cluster Schools' Cross Country

298 KS2 pupils from Years 3-6 came to the Academy for the annual Cross Country event held last Monday.

Traditionally the event coincides with a rainy day however only Mr Mason got the annual soak during the set-up! Our intrepid athletes from nine local primary schools had some glorious bouts of sunshine beating down on them, as they stomped around the 1.5 km course - with the sunshine warming the backs of our enthusiastic hoards.

The standard and enthusiasm was super-duper and despite the 'bursting' hearts and 'burning' lungs there were plenty of smiles as all athletes completed the course. It was also great to see so many parents supporting the children and the whole event! As many readers are aware, we have over 70 Year 10 Leaders doing the Churchill Leader Award, during their option PE lesson. I was very proud and impressed to have 28 Student Leaders to help out - without them we would have really struggled to have such a well structured and fun-packed event!

Well done again to all those involved and Mr Hayne/Mrs Moon and Mr Hildrew for braving the start/finish line to support the event!
