Churchill Academy

Festival of Chemistry

On Wednesday, 11th May, four Year 7 students and Mrs Pattison attended the Salters’ Festival of Chemistry event at the University of Bristol. Mia , Ela , William and Oliver had an exciting day of different practical challenges, including solving the murder in “Salterstown” using chromatography and accurately measuring reagents in the iodine clock reaction.

In the afternoon, they were treated to a series of demonstrations involving exploding hydrogen-filled balloons and liquid nitrogen!

Thank you to Tim Harrison at the University of Bristol, the Royal Society of Chemistry and the Salters’ Institute for hosting us.
