House Assemblies: FEES Fund
This week each House welcomed Trustees of Fi's Enrichment Education Support (FEES) Fund into their assemblies as part of the launch of this new charity set up in memory of Fiona Braidwood.
Fi was a student of Churchill Sixth Form when she died in March 2016 in a car accident close to home. Students heard about the community support and kindness that surrounded the death of a young person from our school whose future was cut short so suddenly. They were encouraged to take hope and inspiration from FEES Fund and the momentum that has built for something positive to come out of this sadness. Fund raising activities and generous donations have helped to established FEES Fund which will help keep Fi's memory and energy present in our community
FEES Fund aims to remove financial barriers and create an opportunity for children and young people to be able to undertake extra-curricular activities with their peers. It is hoped this opportunity will develop new skills, talents and passions. After completing the Ten Tors challenge on Dartmoor, just before her 14th birthday, Fi felt anything was possible. Raising aspirations and supporting a love of learning are important impact values linked to FEES Fund charitable purpose. Trustees are encouraging applications three times per year (in September, January and May) from both individuals and organisations.
Students and Academy staff were encouraged to get involved in FEES Fund by making applications to the fund and getting involved in future fundraising activities. For more information about FEES Fund email feesfund2019@gmail.com or follow FEES Fund on instagram.
