Lily's Eco-Conscious Couture

GCSE Textiles student Lily Price has designed and made a spectacular dress, worthy of any catwalk, from materials purchased for only £2.50. Lily explained more about her creation:

For our project, we were given the theme of "Tropical Rainforest." I got my inspiration from rainforest flora, butterflies, and designer Alexander McQueen. I felt that if we were gong to learn and convey the theme of the tropical rainforest then I would need to research more in-depth into the topic. By doing this I learnt about the risks and consequences to the environment due to the fashion industry. Therefore this led me to produce my piece which is made out of recycled materials which I purchased from my local children's scrap store, for a grand total of £2.50. I used materials such as old wedding dresses, organza, net and cotton. I am very pleased with my piece because I feel it portrays my theme very well.

Lily's spectacular creation - with its important ecological message - is on display in main reception now for visitors to view. It's well worth a look!
