We are looking forward to training resuming once the matches are over - please keep checking the screens for updates as to when there are changes due to meetings/other commitments.

Swimming
On Wednesday Academy students competed in the English School Swimming Competition in the medley and freestyle events at Horfield Leisure Centre, Bristol. The day saw at least 1,000 students compete from across the South West in Junior (Years 7/8) Intermediate (Years 9/10) and Senior (Years 11-13). Our students were a credit to the Academy: organising their own warm ups, getting to their races in advance and supporting each other. We are currently waiting to hear from the organisers to confirm which events we have qualified for, meaning a trip to the Olympic Park in London!

Rugby
The Year 11 Rugby team played their first game of the year on Thursday, away to Worle School. Both teams had been drawn together in the first round of the Somerset Cup which brought many of the Winscombe RFC players together in an exciting battle. Churchill were confident winners 55 - 21. Special mentions to Oliver Clough, excellent job in the captaincy role and to George Raynham-Thropp for Players' Player. Jonah Storey for the final mention, all round great performance and a fantastic individual try to cap off. Good luck in the next round!
