Outstanding Maths Challenge Results
There were outstanding results by Churchill students in the national Junior Mathematics Challenge, which is a one hour non-calculator problem solving competition for able Year 7 and 8 students. It comprises 25 very difficult problem solving questions. There were fantastic results with 44 people receiving certificates: 7 Gold, 21 Silver and 16 Bronze. Gold medal winners were John Skeen, Emma Vaughn, Catherine Hurcombe, Sam Smith, Tom Lee, Cam Legget and James Deacon. Three students did so well they qualified for further extension rounds. Emma Vaughn and Cam Legget qualified for the Junior Kangaroo whilst John Skeen who managed to solve 22 out of the 25 questions qualified for the Junior Maths Olympiad. Well done everyone and to Mr Jones and Mr Skeen for supporting the students in this.
