Presentation Evening 2017
The Academy's annual Presentation Evening took place on Thursday 14th September 2017. The invited audience were delighted to celebrate the achievements of the top performing students at GCSE, A-level and in the many varied aspects of school life including compassion, resilience, progress, contribution to the community, and attitudes to learning. The Chair of Governors, Ian Poole, introduced a performance from the Jazz Group, with Nina Halper (Year 13) singing a laid-back and topical arrangement of Autumn Leaves, before the prizes were presented by the Headteacher, Mr Hildrew, and the guest speaker. Helen McLeod-Jones. Helen, part of Churchill's alumni network, left Churchill in 1996 and has gone on to become a partner at Ernst & Young. She spoke about the importance of flexibility, of putting a confident face on, and of the firm foundation that her Churchill education has given her. The evening concluded with a final performance from the winner of the Music Prize, Anna Lalande, before the winners and their families joined staff and guests for a celebration in the Sixth Form Centre.
Our thanks to to Helen for her inspiring words on her return to Churchill, and our congratulations go to all the worthy prizewinners.
