Churchill Academy

Public speaking: it's not rocket science!

Our new Sixth Form Council President, Chloe Cooke, began her term of office representing Churchill Academy & Sixth Form in the annual Gabbler's Club public speaking competition. This prestigious event is the culmination of a series of dinners where 20 Sixth Form students from Bristol and Somerset give four-minute speeches on a given theme. Speakers are awarded points for their creativity, originality, entertainment and delivery. In the presence of over a hundred guests at the Bristol Hotel, Chloe gave a fantastic speech on the theme of "Rocket Science" where she used her ambition to study neuroscience to show that aerospace engineering does not necessarily deserve its reputation as the most challenging discipline!

Chloe was well supported by her family and staff from the Academy. Despite struggling with a cold, she gave a fantastic speech and deservedly walked away with the prize for "most improved Gabbler" over the series of events, embodying the Academy's value of "determination." Many congratulations to Chloe on her achievement!
