Spawn to be wild
As of Monday this week, the Academy has become home to some rather special guests... 100 elvers to be precise! We have been fortunate to have been selected to take part in the project aptly named as 'Spawn to be Wild' in conjunction with Bristol Water & KIER. Year 7 students will be learning about the lifecycle of the eels and how they are a 'species at risk' from over-fishing and changes to their natural habitats through human intervention. They will understand how to feed and manage them and to understand their need for conservation. These sessions will all culminate in a final release day into the wild at Blagdon lake and aims to inspire students about further conservation projects.
