Strictly Dance Fever 2016

Churchill's renowned dance competition returned this year bigger and better than ever! Following several rounds of hotly-contested auditions, the finalists assembled on Tuesday to perform in front of judges Mrs Rees, Mr Buckley and Mrs Lippe, and a sold-out full house audience. There were incredible performances in the groups, duets and solos categories, showcasing a wide range of dance styles including ballet, jazz and tap. The competition concluded with an epic battle of the supergroups - boys versus girls! - before the audience were treated to a show-stopping finale from the Year 9 BTEC dance groups performing a stunning Hollywood routine which showed the strength in breadth and depth across the dance department.

The judges had a tough deliberation, with many of the acts achieving very high scores. In the end the Best Performance trophy was awarded to Isla Hurst (12KB), before the overall winners were announced: Emily Styring (10HRMS), Molly Sprouting (10TMB) and Alice Vaughn (10HRL) won the coveted trophy for their superb group performance transitioning between four different dance styles.

Well done to all the performers for the commitment, effort and skill shown. Many of the younger performers showed great promise, which bodes well for an even more spectacular Strictly Dance Fever in 2017!
