Churchill Academy

Summer Art Exhibition

The hard work and  creativity of our A Level students is being showcased in the traditional end of year exhibition in the Drama Studio this week.  The  work revealed invention and innovation as well  as the high skills we have become used to in the Art Department.

Amongst the works featured were  an installation piece by Charlotte Dearman, based on an Alice in Wonderland theme, a contemporary suit of armour by  textiles artist, Lucy Howarth and  a set of stunning portrait photographs by Jasmine Rees, interwoven with and abstracted by geometric patterns of  thread.

The up and coming Year 12 students provided a complimentary exhibition in the  Art corridor that suggests next year’s event could be even more exciting.  Tom Johnson’s  stunning “Dolls  House” has  won many plaudits as have  Katie Jackson’s beautifully crafted , large scale oil paintings exploring the theme of  transformation.

Many thanks to Mr Siequien, for his skilful lighting, Drama for letting us hijack their space  and to Mr McQueen and Miss Capes  for organising the exhibition.
