Team PE News

A busy week for Team PE and students with Athletics, Boys' Hockey, Rounders, Cricket & Cluster Kwik Cricket; our students have been as keen as ever.

The week started with Rounder's fixtures against Nailsea with Year 7 achieving their first win. Congratulations to Mary Hemmings who received Nominated Player, Ellen Smith who received Player's Player and Jess Lucy who received Umpire's Player. A special mention to Olivia Young who scooped both Players' Player and Nominated Player after a fantastic game - well done to all those involved! The Year 9 and 10 teams unfortunately lost but came back raring to go for our fixture against Hans Price on Thursday. In the soaring heat we travelled to Hans Price and it was immediately evident it was going to be a tight contest. All girls played fantastically with some excellent evidence of fielding displayed by all teams. Hans Price managed to win by half a rounder in both the Year 7 and Year 8 games with the Year 9/10s drawing in a close match. We look forward to seeing all students at training after half term so we can fully prepare for the tournaments.

On Wednesday, we took a mix of Year 8-10 students to the North Somerset Athletics Competition at Yate. It was a fantastic day with some talent shown across both track and field events and some hotly contested races which left us all shouting at the finish line as students passed. A special mention to Matt Hogg, Abi Roach, Lauren Powell, Henry Smith, Callum Smith, Dan Morris and Jack Panicucci who all qualified for the Avon School's Athletics. A huge well done to all those involved - please see some of our photo highlights of the day below.

Our Cricketers travelled to Millfield School this week and put in a respectable performance against one of the top sporting schools in the country.  Unfortunately Churchill were the losers on the day, but the lads played well.
