Purplex is a company based in Weston-super-Mare which specialises in all types of marketing from PR and social media to websites and Search Engine Optimisation (SEO). I joined them for a week to experience first-hand how they work and how they handle their client base. I was interested to find out how companies market themselves and the effect they have on their new and existing customers.

I decided to work with a marketing company because I am interested in following this career path when I leave school. I wasn’t sure what to expect but I have learned so much and it has helped me decide what I would like to do when I leave school.

I came to Purplex with an open mind and couldn’t wait to experience new and exciting tasks, as this is my first time working. Purplex has taught me so much about the different types of marketing needed to keep a successful website running, and it’s a lot more complicated than I thought.

Over the course of the week, I had to research intensively about two clients and most my tasks were based around them. I made promotional videos, suggested some improvements to their websites and wrote a blog, which has already been published.

This has really helped me gain self-confidence, improve my communication skills and has shown me what a normal working day is really like with a dynamic marketing company.

I have thoroughly enjoyed taking on tasks and learning so much about how a company works. I also attended meetings, which included weekly client lead meetings, Monday team meetings and AdWords meetings, and observed how the other staff structured their week and how they managed their workload.

When I leave school, I want to find a course that supports this type of career. I've loved being in the environment and ambiance of the office, and looked forward to each day, knowing I was going to learn something new.
