Xpression Variety Show
The show room of Howard’s Citroen in Weston was transformed on Thursday night, into a vibrant performance space for the Churchill Academy Xpression Production Company to put on their end of year Variety Show.
The Year 13 BTEC Performing Arts students delivered a true mix of entertainment including acapella group singing, a rap medley, performance poetry, stand-up comedy, musical theatre and dance, all to a sell-out audience. Hosted by Elliott Scott and Matt Hogg, the evening also saw two excerpts from the upcoming Year 12 BTEC Performing Arts group Breaking Mad's production of We Will Rock You. Tickets are on sale now - it’s going to be quite a show!
The concept, venue, marketing and performance were all designed and planned by the members of Xpression and will count towards their final assessment. They worked with partners Howard’s Citroen who hosted the event.
Symon Buckley Head of Performing Arts at Churchill said: This opportunity gave the students a valuable insight into the pathway of producing a professional event, especially in such a unique and innovative venue as a car showroom. Speaking on behalf of the Performing Arts staff, the students did Churchill proud, not just for this event, but throughout the two years of their BTEC studies.”
Churchill has a reputation for outstanding performances and this was no exception. “It was a fitting way to mark the final performance in school of Year 13 students who have given so much to Performing Arts at the Academy over the years; their commitment, talent and can-do attitude has set the standard for others to follow.” said Head Teacher, Chris Hildrew.
Well done to all the students involved, and particular thanks to Howards Citroen for hosting the event.
