Head of House Introduction
I am delighted to be writing to you, to extend a warm welcome to our Tudor House webpage, and to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you. You may of course, already know me if your child has siblings or extended family members in Tudor House, but for those who don't, my name is Mrs Alison Blackburn and I have been a Head of House at Churchill Academy for a number of years and a teacher here for even longer! In addition to my role as Head of House, I teach PE (core and A level), Science and Health and Social Care.
I am always extremely proud to open the doors of Tudor House to all of our students and their families (past, present or future!), and to work alongside you as you discover all the opportunities and meaningful experiences Tudor House has to offer. Tudor House holds a hard earned, well deserved and unique standing within the Academy - a reputation we are passionate about upholding. We strive daily to embody the Academy values, whilst maintaining a House identity and ethos that reflects our inquisitive, respectful and conscientious student body; underpinned and nurtured by my team of talented, dedicated and compassionate Tutors, whose focus will be to establish and build a trusting relationship with your child, year on year. To this end, we look forward to your child enjoying our rich and inclusive community at whatever point in their journey that might be.
House Identity
Tudor House is ‘Tudortastic’ and over the years, many households have had our famous ‘Tudortastic’ postcards adorning various cupboard and fridge doors and our ‘Tudortastic mugs taking pride of place in the dishwasher! We love to celebrate the vast array of achievements attributed to Tudor House students, so look out for some new ‘Tudortastic’ designs this year.
I’m thrilled to be able to inform you all the in 2021-22 we raised over £700 for our House charity – The Great Western Air Ambulance. This year our House Council will arrange the final House vote, to decide our charity for 2022-23.
- House Charity: TBC
- House Song: ‘Our House’ by Madness
- House Mascot: Red Rocking Lobster!
Student Leadership
In Tudor House we are committed to ensuring our students’ opinions, innovations and expectations are heard and acted upon – this principle is embodied our Tutor Programme debating activities, our House Council and in the process by which we select two 11 students as our House Captains, each academic year.
Whilst our House Captains act as role models to all Tudor students; representing the House at whole school functions, fundraisers and strategic meetings, it is our House Council which is the machinery that provides all Tudor students with a voice.
