Academy Sports Rundown: 7th February 2025

This week in Academy Sports saw our students learn the importance of perseverance and even got treated to a post game meal. Here's how they got on:
KS4 Basketball take on Sidcot Sixth Formers
Our KS4 basketball team, made up of Year 10 and 11 boys, faced off with Sidcot’s undefeated Sixth Form team this week. Sidcot took the win with a 50-28 final score, and whilst the Academy could not end Sidcot’s winning streak, we were treated to a delicious meal in their refectory after the game! Thank you Sidcot for your fantastic hospitality and company!
Year 11 Football faced 8 games in the North Somerset Football Tournament
The Academy entered two teams in the North Somerset Football tournament, playing eight games against other North Somerset Schools.
Despite playing some entertaining football, both teams just missed out on a place in the semi-finals. It was a thoroughly enjoyable day of football, and all the boys were a credit to the Academy. Well done!
Year 8 boys welcome Monkton Wood Academy for a thrilling football match
Our Year 8 boys team welcomed Monkton Wood Academy to Churchill this week for an exciting game of football. Despite the cold weather, the match was a thrilling game that highlighted the skills of both teams. Monkton Wood ultimately took the win with a 3-1 final score. However, the loss doesn’t take away from the hard work the Academy boys displayed. Well done!
