Alumni judge shining M Stars Musical Theatre performance

Churchill Academy & Sixth Form Performing Arts department were thrilled to welcome back four previous students to judge the brand spanking new 'M Stars Musical Theatre Competition'.

A stunning showcase of talent and dedication from performers of all ages, the range of styles and genres represented was impressive, and the level of skill on display was truly inspiring.

Past students Lorin Henderson, Brett Kelly, Sam Thompson and Liv Damerell, were invited back to judge, all of whom have gone on to achieve great things within the Performing Arts field.

The audience was hooked from start to finish, cheering on the performers and eagerly anticipating each new act. Our opening act, a group of seven with one from every year represented, gave a stunning performance of 'Heart of Stone' from Six to get the show started and we finished with our Year 12 and 13 Performing Arts students showcasing four songs from Heathers for their upcoming exam.  A special mention must go to Leah Toomer, Lola Roberts, Oli Harris and Amelia Briffitt who presented with such creativity and gave us 'Guess the Musical' with their hilarious costume changes.
Every single person on that stage deserved a trophy but the judges had to whittle it down to just a few.  Dance Star - Katelyn Troskie, Acting Star - Rowan Morgan, Music Star - Lucas Granger, Singing Stars - Brooke Austin and Molly Blundell, Group Stars - Year 9 Dancers with Mair and Leah, Rising Stars - Year 8 Dance Club, Superstar - Ben Payne and Zak Slater.

Overall, the musical theatre competition was a true feast for the senses, with memorable performances that showcased the very best that the world of musical theatre has to offer and it will be back in the future to inspire future generations.
