Rising Star: Leo Woodrow excels at the Swim Wales Summer National Meet
Two months after competing in the South West Regionals, Leo Woodrow triumphantly returned to the Swim Wales Summer National Meet in Swansea to compete in eight events and secure eight new personal bests.
One of these performances placed Leo in the Top 20 in the UK, a significant achievement that solidified his position as a rising star in the swimming world.
Over five days, Leo delivered a series of outstanding performances. On day one, he set the tone with a 4-second personal best in the 100-meter backstroke, qualifying for the final. He followed that with a 9.5-second personal best in the 400-meter medley, earning him a bronze medal.
On day two, Leo focused solely on the 100M Freestyle. He secured a place in the final with a 3.3-second personal best and then claimed the silver medal with an impressive time of 60.89 seconds. This achievement ranked him 26th in the British rankings.
He continued his streak, with Leo smashing his 50-meter Freestyle personal best twice. He ultimately secured another silver medal and broke into the top 20 in the UK for the event.
Leo delivered a 5-second personal in the 200-meter Backstroke, qualifying second fastest for the final, and a 6-second PB in the 400-meter Freestyle, finishing 5th overall. Another bronze medal followed in the 200-meter Backstroke final.
On the final day, Leo set a new personal best in the 50-meter Backstroke and took on the challenging 800-meter Freestyle, surprising even himself with a 20-second personal and another bronze medal. He finished the meet with a strong performance in the 50-meter Backstroke final, narrowly missing the podium.
Leo has shown true star quality in the swimming pool and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for him.
