Black Belt Brilliance for Lewis and Lara

Lewis (Year 11) and Lara (Year 9) have successfully completed their kickboxing black belt grading after a gruelling 2.5-hour session this term. Their achievement comes after four years of training two to three times a week, a truly well-deserved reward.

Lewis has also recently become a Sensei at Bristol Martial Arts Academy, where both students train. Alongside Lara, who is part of the Academy’s leadership programme, Lewis now helps instruct junior and senior classes several times a week.

Both students took part in the British Championships over the summer, their most challenging tournament to date. Lara earned a bronze medal, while Lewis secured both a bronze and a silver, which are outstanding results.

Next up is the 2026 English Championships in February, where Lewis will be competing. Lara will be sitting this one out as she focuses on training for her Ten Tors expedition.

The Academy could not be prouder of these achievements, which highlight the students’ dedication and hard work. We look forward to following their progress in the year ahead!
