Churchill Academy & Sixth Form Achieves Record-Breaking GCSE Results: Press Release
Churchill Academy & Sixth Form celebrates the publication of the 2025 school performance tables, confirming that its students have achieved the Academy's highest-ever Attainment 8 score and table-topping outcomes for disadvantaged students.
The Academy has recorded an Attainment 8 score of 50.2, surpassing the previous school record set in 2018. This outstanding achievement places Churchill Academy & Sixth Form among the highest-performing schools in North Somerset and firmly within the top 10 across the wider Somerset, Bath & North East Somerset and North Somerset area.
Record Success for Disadvantaged Students
Beyond the headline figures, the Academy is particularly proud of the exceptional outcomes for its disadvantaged students in English and Maths GCSEs. 51.6% of disadvantaged students achieved a Grade 4 or above in both subjects, with 29% achieving a strong pass (Grade 5 or above) in both. These scores are comfortably the best in North Somerset across both key measures.
Chris Hildrew, Headteacher of Churchill Academy & Sixth Form, stated:
"These record-breaking results are a powerful testament to the hard work and determination of the Class of 2025 and the unwavering dedication of our teaching staff. We are especially delighted with the performance of our disadvantaged students. Ensuring every student, regardless of background, receives the best possible springboard into the next stage of their life, whether that is further education, employment, or training, is at the core of our mission."
Applications Now Open for September 2026 Entry
The announcement comes as the Academy wraps up its successful Open Day season and encourages prospective Year 6 families to submit their applications to join the Academy in September 2026.
Headteacher, Chris Hildrew, added:
"If you attended our recent Open Days, you have seen the environment that nurtures this level of success. Our doors are open and we strongly encourage all Year 6 families interested in joining the Academy to complete their applications by Friday 31st October via the student's home local authority."
