Year 8 Students Shine at Babcock Festival of Engineering

On Tuesday, 25 of our Year 8 students took part in the Babcock Festival of Engineering, an exciting event designed to introduce young minds to the diverse world of engineering. The day was packed with hands-on activities and opportunities to explore various career pathways within the field.
Students engaged in a range of interactive tasks, including designing and constructing ships and bridges, programming LEGO robots, experimenting with virtual welding, and creating sustainable energy solutions. One of the highlights of the day was the chance to explore an armoured vehicle—where many enjoyed pretending to take the wheel—and learning how to program military robots.
Students were invited to submit designs for sustainable energy solutions before the event. Among the many impressive entries, William was awarded 3rd place, while Andrew took 1st place, both earning recognition for their innovative ideas.
Congratulations to all the students who participated, and a special well done to William and Andrew for their achievements! The festival was a fantastic opportunity to inspire the next generation of engineers, and we look forward to seeing where their creativity takes them next.
