Visit from Local MP Tessa Munt Inspires Students

We were delighted to welcome Tessa Munt MP to the Academy last week, where she met with Sixth Form Politics students and a select group of students from the main school.

During her visit, Tessa spoke openly about her journey into Politics, sharing the experiences that led her to Westminster and the motivations behind her work as a Member of Parliament. She also discussed some of the key challenges she faces representing a large rural constituency, including transport, access to services, and balancing the needs of diverse communities.

Following her talk, students were given the opportunity to ask questions, leading to a wide-ranging and thought-provoking discussion. Topics included the rising cost of public transport, proposals to ban or regulate social media, and Tessa’s experiences as a woman working in Westminster.

The session provided students with valuable insights into life in Politics and the realities of representing constituents, while encouraging thoughtful debate on issues affecting young people today. We would like to thank Tessa Munt MP for taking the time to visit and for engaging so positively with our students.
