Churchill Academy & Sixth Form

Academy Sports Rundown: 5th June 2026

We kicked off Term 6 with Cricket, Rounders and Basketball, read how we got on below:

South West Regional Basketball Championships
Our Year 8 Basketball team competed in the South West Regional Basketball Championships hosted by UWE this week.  Students competed with schools from across the South West, making it an exciting afternoon.

Our team put forward an incredible effort, securing a Bronze medal in the event, with Noah winning the Regional Individual Shooting Competition. Well done!

Year 9 & 10 Rounders vs Kings Academy
Our Year 9 & 10 Rounders teams visited Kings Academy for a double match in the last week of Term 5.   Whilst they didn’t secure the win, it was clear to see the massive improvements our students have made as a team and we cannot wait to see how they perform in the next game.

Our Year 9 Player of the Match was Immy, and Olive brought home Player of the Match for Year 10. Well done!

Year 7, 8 & 10 Rounders vs Clevedon
Our Year 10 Rounders team had their moment to show off their improved skills against Clevedon School this week, bringing home an impressive 13-8 victory. Our Year 7 team also smashed it with another win, showing off their skills and bringing it home with a final score of 15-4.

Year 8 put up a strong performance, keeping Clevedon on their toes throughout; however, Clevedon displayed some strong fielding and batting performances to just edge ahead in the second innings.

Our Players of the Match were awarded to Lexi, Skye and Lilly. Well done!

Our U15 Cricket Team has been busier than ever!
Our U15 Cricket team started the week with a last minute fixture against Millfield on Monday. It was a strong match with Churchill 113/2 off 20 overs and Luca & James anchoring the innings. However, Millfield took the win with 114/0 over 8 overs.

Wednesday saw our team face St Katherine’s, where James was an all out star with the ball, getting five wickets in one run. The game came to a close with a victory for Churchill, bringing us one step closer to Lords.

Our final Cricket game of the week was on Thursday, as we faced Ashton Park.  It was another impressive game, despite the tricky weather, with Dylan leading the team for 6 wickets over 6 runs.  It was another victory for Churchill with a final score of 91/3 against Ashton Park's 19/0, bringing us yet another game closer to Lords.

We want to say a massive thank you to all the local cricket clubs, especially Churchill, as the Academy’s home ground.  We can’t wait to see how they get on next week!
