Head of House's Introduction
Welcome to our Windsor House page!
My name is James Redman, and I am Head of Windsor House. With over 20 years of teaching experience in two Bristol schools before Churchill, I am passionate about pastoral care and my main subject, Physical Education. I am delighted to be part of Churchill Academy & Sixth Form.
Students and staff alike are clearly living out the values of Kindness, Curiously and Determination during the school day and beyond – values that are more important now than ever before. At the heart of the academy lies the House system which has been in place since 1956, and is very much part of the culture of the school; something students are proud to be part of and keen to engage in friendly rivalry when the opportunity presents itself!
On that note, I'm constantly impressed with the manner in which Windsor students continue to engage with House Competitions. It is always pleasure to to see a wide range of students, working collaboratively in their House teams, wearing the the distinctive blue of Windsor, . Each term brings new opportunities for student involvement, and I'm confident Windsor students will continue to make the most of them.

All students have had the opportunity to contribute ideas, and vote on aspects of the Windsor House identity. The students have spoken and they have decided on the following:

Logo: Blue 'W' encircled with two curved lines starting at each side of the 'W'.

A message from our House Captains:
We are both honoured to have been chosen as Windsor House Captains. We are both passionate about our goals for both Windsor house and Churchill Academy.
What we are about…
We want to aim to promote the academy values of Kindness, Curiosity and Determination – whether it be through lessons, House matches or extra-curricular activities. The school offers so much to all its pupils already. We want to encourage everyone in Windsor to make the most of the amazing opportunities, and feel proud to be a member of Windsor.
What we would like to achieve as house captains…
- Encourage all Windsor students to play their part in House competitions and fund raising events
- Have a strong focus on mental health and wellbeing of all students
- Become a greener school and helping the environment
- Recognise everyone’s strengths and help them achieve their goals
- Support students with their day-to-day lives at Churchill
- Acknowledge everyone’s achievements within the academy and outside, in the local community
