Design & Technology*

Design and Technology at A-Level allows you to specialise and excel whether you have come from a GCSE background in Graphics or Resistant Materials, or neither. Students master knowledge and understanding of materials and processes and design and make a range of projects. The whole design and make process is explored allowing students to evidence the key skills that the Government, Industry and Universities are crying out for... including the ability to research, problem solve, design, develop, make and evaluate.

Subject specific entry requirement: Standard Sixth Form entry. A GCSE Grade 5 in an art or design technology is desirable
Qualification: A Level
Topics and areas covered:

Year 12:
Materials and Processes theory

  • Making projects - including entry into a competition at The North Somerset Show
  • Computer Aided Design
  • Design Era studies
     

Year 13:
Coursework focus which is worth 50% of the course.

  • A Design and Make project with a real client who you will find and work with. Previous Clients include ITV, Bristol Airport and The Houses of Parliament
